Sea Trail Jones Course - #5 - Hole Spotlight from Myrtle Beach Golf Holiday

FIVE THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THE JONES COURSE AT SEA TRAILThe Open Doctor, as architect Rees Jones is known for his renovation work on U.S. Open courses, came to Brunswick County, North Carolina in the late 1980s, and the result was a design that remains one of the North Strand’s enduring layouts. The Rees Jones Course at Sea Trail Resort has emerged as the property's premier layout, narrowly edging the Maples Course and becoming a favorite of "in-the-know" Myrtle Beach golfers. Why should you consider the Jones Course and the value-packed Sea Trail Golf Resort package on your next trip?1. The Jones Course has gradually enjoyed a facelift in recent years, installing new Champion Bermuda greens, replacing all the cart paths and renovating the bunkers. The result of the work is a layout that has a fresh look, offers a smooth ride and greens that are as true as your stroke.2. Every course needs a couple take-home memories, and Jones delivers on that account. The par 3 fifth hole, which plays 155 yards from the white tees, is all carry across water and the view is enhanced from the elevated tee box. Your faithful correspondent is a sucker for a short par 4, and the 328-yard 10th hole qualifies. A dogleg right, long hitters can challenge the water and go for the green off the tee. It can be an exhilarating tee shot.3. While Jones allows players to bomb the driver and the layout appears relatively short from the tips at 6,761 yards, don’t be fooled. The course plays longer than it appears. The par 5s aren’t exceedingly long, three of the four play 530 yards or less from the tips, but there are six par 4s that measure at least 400 yards. The course is sneaky long.4. The most important clubs in your bag are your wedges. The combination of meaty par 4s and elevated greens means players will have to be sharp from 120 yards and in. Be prepared to play those little chip shots around the greens and get them close to the hole.5. The Jones Course represents a good, straightforward challenge, the kind of layout that people enjoy on a Myrtle Beach golf trip. Don't take our word, listen to what your fellow golfers are saying. For that, I'll defer to Pierre_Kingston, who wrote in a 2017 TripAdvisor.com review:"If you only have a few courses that you have time to play, then you should consider placing this one at the top of your to-play list. My friend and I went and loved the course, the practice facility and the lay of the land."The place was very well maintained and the clubhouse was fun to shop in also...But the course is the main attraction and they placed a lot of time and effort into making this a fun place-challenging yet well manicured."It's time for you to add the Jones Course to your next Myrtle Beach golf itinerary.
